DESCRIPTION

Gin, Whisky und Bier aus einem Haus? Das ist in Schottland selten. Bei der Produktion ihrer Spirituosen kombinieren die Eden Mill Distillers das Beste aus den drei Handwerken – und beweisen Mut zu Neuem: Der Gin reift auch mal im Bourbonfass, das ungehopfte Bier liefert die Grundlage für den Whisky. Künftig brennt Eden Mill in einer hochmodernen, klimaschonenden Brennerei auf dem Eden-Campus der Universität von St. Andrews, die Strom und Wärme von einer Biomasseanlage und von Sonnenkollektoren bezieht.

Nun kehrt nach pandemiebedingter Pause aber zunächst die Art of St Andrews Collection zurück, für die Eden Mill mit lokalen Künstlern kooperiert. Der Eden Mill Art of St Andrews 2022 ist eine limitierte Abfüllung von insgesamt 3000 Flaschen. In Bourbon Casks, vor allem aber in Pedro Ximénez und Oloroso Sherry Casks gereift, liefert das Limited Release einen Vorgeschmack auf den künftigen Whisky-Stil der entstehenden Destillerie.

Die außergewöhnliche Verpackung stammt von Künstlerin Mairi Clark. Ihr ausdrucksstarkes, farbenfrohes Ölgemälde zeigt die dramatische Küste von St Andrews, auf dem die im Bau befindliche Whisky-Destillerie als heller Punkt am Horizont zu sehen ist. Das Kunstwerk spiegelt zudem das aromatische Zusammenspiel der neuen Abfüllung: ein süßer und doch subtil würziger Whisky, der mit Sherry- und Apfelnoten aufwartet, die von buttrigen Nüssen mit Röstaromen und pikanten Bitterstoffen untermauert werden.
