  • Glenfarclas - Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Glenfarclas Distillery, a symbol of traditional Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Speyside, has been synonymous with high-quality whisky production since its inception in 1836. It is one of the few independent distilleries in Scotland still run by its founding family, the Grants. Owned by the family since 1865, Glenfarclas is currently led by the fifth and sixth generation of the family, who are dedicated to producing the finest Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky in the traditional Speyside style.

The distillery boasts a wide range of proprietary bottlings, including 8-year-old, 10-year-old, 12-year-old, 15-year-old, 17-year-old, 21-year-old (currently suspended), 25-year-old, 30-year-old, 40-year-old, and the 105 (Cask Strength) with 60% ABV. In 2007, Glenfarclas introduced The Family Casks, a collection of single cask bottlings from every year from 1952 to 1994, extending up to 2007, though lacking casks from 1952 and 1953.

Production at Glenfarclas is conducted in a traditional manner, with a focus on maturation in sherry casks, which imparts the whiskies with their characteristic aromas of dried fruits, honeycomb, butterscotch, light peat, and nuts. Glenfarclas is especially known for its Family Casks, a selection of top whiskies from each year between 1952 and 1994, bottled at cask strength and uncolored.

The distillery offers visitors the opportunity to look behind the scenes. Since 1973, there has been a visitor center, one of the first of its kind in Scotland. Visitors can take tours to learn more about the magical production of malt whisky and the unique history of Glenfarclas. For connoisseurs, more in-depth tours are available by appointment, where Glenfarclas Brand Ambassadors introduce a selection of their favorite expressions of Glenfarclas.
