The Ben Nevis Traditional Peated Malt is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky produced at the base of Scotland's highest peak, Ben Nevis, where whisky has been distilled officially since 1825. The distillery recently reintroduced this expression to commemorate its heritage, reviving a classic style of whisky that was first released as a limited edition in 2011. This peated malt honors a time when peat was used to heat the kilns, providing the whisky with its distinctive smoky character.
Crafted with oak cask maturation and bottled at 46% ABV, the whisky draws its water from the Allt a' Mhuilinn burn and utilizes copper pot stills to create a spirit with a rich and medium-bodied character. On the nose, it delivers an initial burst of sea salt and phenol, followed by sweet floral and honey aromas. The palate features a delicate smoky taste that gives way to light crème caramel and ginger cake, leaving a smooth creaminess on the tongue. Fruity notes of pear juice blend with hints of licorice, earth, and peat to create a well-rounded finish.
The Ben Nevis Traditional Peated Malt is unchillfiltered and naturally colored, embodying the distillery's dedication to quality and tradition.
