DESCRIPTION
Im Elsbachtal, eingebettet in die Berglandschaft des Südharzes, liegt die Hammerschmiede. Statt Eisenerz verarbeitet die Familie Buchholz hier einen anderen regionalen Rohstoff: Gerste. Seit 2002 steht die Spirituosen-Manufaktur für Hercynian Single Malt – anspruchsvollen Whisky aus dem Herzen Deutschlands. Die außerordentliche Whisky-Vielfalt der Niedersachsen basiert ebenso auf hoher handwerklicher Qualität und Experimentierfreude sowie einer breiten Palette an mit Süd- und Süßweinen vorbelegten Fässern.

Stets in kleinen Stückzahlen ohne Kühlfiltrierung oder Färbung abgefüllt, erscheinen die vollständig handgefertigten Hercynian Single Malts in vier Reihen. Deren Herzstück: ElsBurn.

Die intensiv fruchtig-würzigen Abfüllungen der Distillery Edition unterstreichen den Charakter der Marke. Die ElsBurn Distillery Edition Batch 003 2022 durfte vollständig in First Fill Sherry Casks aus Jerez reifen. So entstand ein üppiger Single Malt mit Frucht- und Gewürznoten. Stark im Charakter ist die dunkelbraune Distillery Edition zugleich elegant – und vor allem hoch aromatisch.

TASTING NOTES
Nase
Nose		 Die erste Nase beginnt ungemein üppig mit einer feinen Mischung aus Rosinen, Mandarinen, Pfirsich, Teekuchen, kandierten Früchten und halbgebackenem Karamellkeksteig. Untergründig schwelt ein Hauch von Gewürzen und solide Eiche nebst feinen Karamell- und satten Toffeenoten. Zum Ende hin punktet dieser Malt mit einer dezent zurückhaltenden Bitterorangennote.
Gaumen
Palate		 Der Geschmack beginnt ebenso komplex, wie die Nase. Noten von fruchtigem Rosinenkuchen, Vanille und Karamell bilden eine gut komponierte Ouvertüre. Danach gliedern sich zarte Noten von Mandarinen, Kuchengewürzen und Toffee ein, während der krönende Abschluss durch feine Eichennoten und leichte Backpflaumenaromen gebildet wird. Im Abgang hält er sich mittellang und flacht erst nach mehreren Minuten leicht ab.
