DESCRIPTION

Ardbeg präsentiert einen neuen 13-jährigen Single Malt, der aus der Not geboren wurde, wie die aktuelle Pressemitteilung erklärt: Ardbeg Fermutation. Als die Whisky-Produktion im November 2007 wegen eines Kesselschadens zum Stillstand kam, musste die Würze viel länger als üblich in den Wash Backs bleiben. Und wenn man schon experimentieren muss, dann richtig, sagte Dr. Bill Lumsden, Ardbegs Director of Distilling and Whisky Creation, und ließ die Deckel der Washbacks öffnen.

Die Gärung dauerte 3 Wochen statt der üblichen 72 Stunden, neben der Hefe konnten nun auch wilde Bakterien aus der Luft ihr Werk verrichten. Nach 13 Jahren Reifung in Ex-Bourbon-Fässern wurde der Ardbeg Fermutation nun mit einer Alkoholstärke von 49,4% ABV abgefüllt.

TASTING NOTES

Nase Nose	Frisch, blumig, krautig und kräftig. Anklänge von gemischten Kräutern und Zedernholz. Sehr spritzig, lebendig, mit Noten von geräucherter Orange und Grapefruit, viel Menthol und Pfefferminz. Mit ein wenig Wasser kräftige Wellen von Dieselöl, Teer, frisch gestrichener Farbe und Anis. Der Abgang ist frisch gemähtes Heu mit einem winzigen Hauch von etwas Pikantem, wie Hefeextrakt oder Brotteig.
Gaumen Palate	Eine lebendige, vibrierende, "spritzige" Textur, die in sehr kräftigen, ausgeprägten Aromen gipfelt - malzige Töne von Biskuit, kräftiger Anis, Kardamom, antiseptische Lutschtabletten, süßes Minz-Toffee und Zigarrenasche.
Abgang Finish	Lang anhaltender, salziger, kräftiger Abgang mit Minze, Teer, Eichengerbstoff und Leder.
